Seemingly there is no limit to the weirdness of human mutualisms (or is it commensalism? parasitism?) with other species

Hearing Voices The Loaves and the Fishes

Listening to this made me wonder “why do humans gain so much pleasure from feeding animals junk food that they will go to public meetings to protect their right to do so?”. It seems like we are so divorced from real nature and authentic interactions with animals that we manufacture and protect these strange, abusive, and codependent relationships with semi-domesticated creatures. This story captures the mixture of love/awe and control/domination that typifies the relationship ‘civilized’ humans have with animals. There has to be a better way!
